Roof Repointing Sunshine Coast

Restore cracked, loose, or failing ridge capping before it leads to leaks, movement, and costly roof damage.

Straight Answers. Fair Pricing. Work Done Properly.

Why Repointing Matters

The Most Overlooked Maintenance on Tile Roofs

Ridge capping holds your roof structure together. Over time, the mortar cracks, shifts, and breaks down — especially in the Sunshine Coast climate.

Once this happens, tiles can loosen, water can enter, and small issues quickly turn into expensive repairs.

Repointing restores the integrity of your roof before bigger problems develop.

Lovely down to earth people, very professional and organised. They even sent me photos of the roof before and after and explained everything very well. This was very refreshing after having multiple negative experiences with other roof repair people. I highly recommend them. Thanks guys.

Ryan and the team at Excalibur Roofing are nothing short of exceptional at every single thing they do. I was fortunate to find Ryan after a solar installer disappeared after breaking dozens of our roofing tiles. Any time I've needed expert work or an opinion on our roof, Ryan and the team are my go-to every time. There aren't enough words for me to convey how professional this team is, or how grateful I am for their know-how and care.

Roof Repointing FAQs

What is roof repointing?

Roof repointing is the process of renewing the pointing along your ridge capping to help keep the roof sealed and secure. Over time, the existing pointing can crack, loosen, or break down, which can allow water in and affect the stability of the ridge tiles. Repointing helps restore the weatherproof seal and extend the life of your roof.

Common signs include cracked or crumbling pointing, loose or shifted ridge tiles, visible gaps along the ridge line, or water stains appearing inside after rain. If your roof is older and the ridge capping has not been maintained for some time, it’s worth having it inspected before a small issue turns into a leak.

Rebedding involves removing the old mortar bed and relaying the ridge tiles in a fresh mortar bed. Repointing is the application of flexible pointing compound over the top to seal and protect the bedding. Most jobs require both — we’ll assess what’s needed during your inspection.

Most residential repointing jobs are completed in a single day. Larger or more complex roofs may take two days. We’ll give you a clear timeline with your quote.

Yes — failed ridge capping bedding and pointing is one of the most common causes of roof leaks, particularly on tile roofs. Repointing restores the waterproof seal along the ridge and hips, which is often the source of water ingress.
No. We’ll coordinate access with you beforehand and keep you updated throughout the job. You’ll receive a final walkthrough when we’re done.
